Vintage Port - aged in bottle

Grape Varieties:
Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão.

Harvest begins in the middle of September as the pickers work the terraces to harvest the fully ripened grapes. The wine matures in casks or in larger wooden vats. The cool air temperature and humidity near the coast is perfect for the Port’s long maturation.

Port form a single exceptional harvest may be declared as Vintage and bottled after spending between two to three years in wood. The maturation process continues in bottle until it is ready to drink. In some cases thus may take two decades or more.
As the wine ages, it softens and slowly sheds its deep dark colour, gaining in structure and complexity.
As the Vintage Port produce a natural "crust” or sediment in the bottle, it should be stood upright for 24 hours and decanted before serving.

As Barão de Vilar Vintage Port ages in bottle gain a softened dark colour, gaining in structure and complexity. It has a very fine aroma and flavour.

Tasting Notes


This Vintage Port is perfect to combine with spicy cow-cheeses or soft Portuguese sheep-cheeses, ice-cream and as a digestive.

Need to be decanted.
